To get the most out of this tool – utilize it at critical points in a project’s life cycle (beginning, transition points –like moving between departments or going from Alpha-to-Beta launch–, and at about 90% completion).

After communicating Expectations, the leader will ask key stake-holders the appropriate Clarifying Questions, and then ask the stakeholders if their understanding is CLEAR, BLURRY or BLIND. Regardless of the answer — the leader should take a few minutes to ask more about the stakeholder’s answer, either to validate clarity, or to understand what the gap in understanding is.

The goal of utilizing this tool is to quickly identify where there are gaps in understanding before work has begun, and/or before it is finalized.
